Director of Development and Regeneration
Salary: £110,000 - £120,000 per annum, plus £10,000 car allowance and excellent benefits Location: Walsall, West Midlands Contract: Full-time, permanent (37 hours per week) Closing Date: 29 July 2026

At whg, we are driving bold change through our Our 2030 Plan, targeting 2,000 high-quality, sustainable homes by 2030. The Director of Development and Regeneration will lead our innovative teams and drive this transformative programme.
Through robust stakeholder partnerships with Homes England, West Midlands Combined Authority, local authorities, developers, and key stakeholders, you’ll unlock opportunities to redefine housing and regeneration across the Midlands.
This role offers:
- Influence and delivery of innovative housing schemes
- Strategic leadership in sustainability, safety, and place-making
- Visionary yet hands-on impact across development programmes

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Collaborate with the Corporate Director of Development to define and achieve key objectives
- Inspire and manage Development, Sales & Marketing teams to exceed performance, budget, and quality standards
- Develop clear strategic direction for:
- Assistant Director of New Business & Partnerships
- Assistant Director of Construction & Quality
- Head of Sales & Marketing
- Assistant Director of Special Projects
- Programme & Compliance Manager

Regeneration & Operational Excellence
- Deliver development, sales, and regeneration strategies aligned with corporate goals
- Lead building safety, sustainability, modernisation and place-making standards
- Maintain strong regeneration partnerships with targeted local authorities
- Oversee Anthem Homes (whg’s for-profit subsidiary) and its strategic Lovell Partnerships relationship
Financial & Report-Driven Accountability
- Produce board-level briefings, reports, and presentations for Committees and senior stakeholders
- Drive customer-centric continuous improvements across all projects
Who We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Proven executive leadership in housing, construction, or regeneration
- Technical understanding of design, building safety, legal and financial aspects of residential development
- In-depth knowledge of:
- Market dynamics in homes across tenure types
- Public and grant funding mechanisms
- Relationship-building (with councils, developers, partners)
- Project & programme management expertise
