The Opportunity
EnerMech is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Engineering to lead and develop our global engineering function within the Energy Solutions business. This is a senior leadership role responsible for establishing engineering governance, technical standards, delivery frameworks, and engineering capability across a diverse portfolio of projects and services. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring engineering excellence, technical integrity, operational efficiency, and business growth while supporting project delivery across global markets. Working closely with operational, commercial, and business line leaders, you will provide technical leadership and strategic direction to ensure engineering remains a key enabler of safe, efficient, and profitable project execution. Lead the global engineering function, providing strategic direction, governance, and technical leadership across all engineering disciplines Develop and implement engineering standards, methodologies, processes, and assurance frameworks to ensure consistent and effective project delivery Act as the senior technical authority, supporting project execution, business development, innovation initiatives, and strategic growth opportunities Drive continuous improvement in engineering performance, delivery efficiency, technical quality, and operational effectiveness Establish and maintain engineering governance processes to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, industry standards, client requirements, and company policies Oversee engineering risk management, technical assurance, and engineering readiness reviews across projects and operations Lead the development of engineering capability, workforce planning, succession planning, and technical competency programmes Manage engineering resources and subject matter experts globally to support business priorities and project demands Develop and implement engineering technology and digitalisation strategies that improve productivity, innovation, and operational performance Partner with operational, commercial, and project teams to improve delivery outcomes, technical solutions, and customer satisfaction Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, industry bodies, and regulatory organisations to support business objectives and technical excellence What We're Looking For
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline Chartered Engineer (or equivalent professional accreditation) preferred Minimum 15 years of progressive engineering leadership experience within the energy, industrial, infrastructure, or engineering services sectors Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams in complex, project-driven environments Strong understanding of engineering governance, technical assurance, engineering risk management, and regulatory compliance Proven ability to develop engineering standards, delivery methodologies, and technical operating models Experience supporting project execution, business development, tendering, and strategic growth initiatives Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance technical excellence and business performance Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills Experience leading organisational change, capability development, and continuous improvement initiatives within global organisations Why Join EnerMech?
