Shape the financial strength and regulatory future of Cynergy Bank.
Join us as our Director of Financial Control & Regulatory Reporting and play a critical leadership role in strengthening the financial, regulatory and prudential foundations of our award-winning human digital banking model.
What’s the opportunity?
This newly created role offers a rare opportunity to become Cynergy Bank's most senior technical accounting and financial control leader.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and sitting on the Finance Senior Leadership Team, you will help shape the future operating model, governance framework and financial control environment of a growing UK bank.
You will combine ownership of Group Financial Control, statutory reporting, audit and regulatory reporting with responsibility for capital, liquidity and prudential reporting frameworks.
You will act as the Bank's principal authority on accounting, financial reporting and regulatory interpretation, advising senior stakeholders, Board Committees, auditors and regulators on complex technical matters. The role offers significant visibility across the organisation and the opportunity to shape the future finance architecture, governance and control environment of the Bank.
This role could be particularly well suited to someone currently operating as a Director or Senior Director within a Big 4 Financial Services Audit or Accounting Advisory practice looking to move in-house into a senior leadership role. Equally, it may suit an established Financial Control or Regulatory Reporting leader seeking broader strategic responsibility within a growing UK bank.
Where You Will Work
You will enjoy hybrid working, with 3 days in our Central London office at One New Change and 2 days from home.
Why Join Us?
We know the best people want more than just a job. At Cynergy Bank, you will find:
- Impact: Become the Bank’s technical accounting authority, shaping financial reporting, regulatory outcomes, governance frameworks and strategic decision-making at the highest levels of the organisation.
- Growth: Join a senior leadership environment where your technical expertise, judgement and leadership will help shape the future of Finance.
- Flexibility: A culture that values work-life balance, supported by our hybrid working model.
- Rewards: Recognition for your skills and contribution, including profit share opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Lead Group statutory financial reporting, including the Annual Report & Accounts, monthly financial close, tax compliance and reporting across all legal entities.
- Own the external audit process end to end, including interim and year-end audit, profit verification, Audit Committee reporting and closure of audit findings.
- Act as the Bank’s technical lead on statutory accounting matters, including IFRS 9, EIR methodology, IFRS 16 and key accounting policy governance.
- Oversee financial control frameworks across balance sheet reconciliations, end-user computing, quarterly attestations, UK SOx implementation, chart of accounts and financial data flows.
- Hold overall accountability for regulatory reporting to the PRA and FCA, including COREP, FINREP, capital, liquidity and large exposures.
- Lead the design, production and ongoing maintenance of ICAAP and ILAAP, ensuring alignment with statutory disclosures and regulatory expectations.
- Provide senior technical advice on regulatory capital, liquidity, prudential reporting and the financial implications of new and existing business activity.
- Manage key regulatory interactions, including permissions, capital issuances, profit verification and prudential reporting matters.
- Deliver high-quality MI and KPI reporting to Board and Executive Committees, supporting strong decision-making and governance.
- Lead, coach and develop Financial Control and Regulatory Reporting teams, building capability, resilience, succession and a high-performance culture.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
