Director of Global Programs (Senior Leadership Role)

JOB SUMMARY

Location: Berlin, Brussels, London, Madrid, Paris, Warsaw, or Washington D.C. Reports to: CEO Contract: Full-time Compensation range (annual):

  • Berlin: €80,000–€100,000
  • Brussels: €72,500–€95,000
  • London: £75,000–£97,500
  • Madrid: €60,000–€75,000
  • Paris: €75,000–€95,000
  • Warsaw: €65,000–€80,000
  • Washington D.C.: $130,000–$160,000

This key strategic role at More in Common focuses on growing the impact of a nonprofit leader in countering political and social polarisation. The Director of Global Programs will lead cross-country research initiatives, build global partnerships, and advance programmes that transcend national boundaries—adding value through collaboration where single-country efforts fall short.

More in Common is a nonpartisan research nonprofit dedicated to reversing polarisation in societies through evidence-based solutions. Our mission ensures leaders and citizens engage constructively across divides.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Director of Global Programs will:

  • Lead and develop world-class multi-country initiatives (research, policy solutions, partnerships).
  • Fundraise at the global level, leveraging existing stakeholder relationships to secure major philanthropic and institutional support.
  • Coordinate with country directors to align national strategies with broader global priorities—identifying synergies where collaboration enhances impact.
  • Representation: Speak for More in Common at high-level conferences, roundtables, and international meetings, including standing in for the CEO when necessary.
  • Build cross-national coalitions with international networks, NGOs, and private sector organisations.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

A compelling candidate will demonstrate:

  • Unwavering commitment to More in Common’s mission and values, and desire to drive large-scale systemic change.
  • Extensive expertise in research design, multi-country programme management, or public opinion studies.
  • Senior-level external stakeholders engagement: fluency in both global policy networks and diplomatic settings.
  • Strong fluency in English, plus proficiency in French, German, Spanish, Polish, or Portuguese to advance multi-party collaboration.
  • International leadership experience, notably in **transnational organisations,' empirical research, or' public sector comparative projects.
  • Exceptional fundraising record (proposals, strategy, donor relations)—a proven ability to secure transformational partnerships.
  • Diplomatic interpersonal style: ability to influence peers, collaborate seamlessly across teams, and advocate for global priorities.
  • Written and verbal communication strength: synthesise complex topics for audiences ranging from researchers to political leaders.
  • Interdisciplinary acumen with public policy, political science, or international relations credentials.

Optional but significant:

  • Board-level experience in social research or applied governance.
  • Specific focus on European policy, transatlantic relations, or diversity/equity-focused advancements.

  • Location-based salary range (detailed above) plus an annual learning fund for professional development.
