Head of Hardware Engineering - Start-up - London - up to £110k + equity

The Company

twentyAI are partnering with an innovative robotics and automation business that is transforming advanced manufacturing through cutting-edge hardware and intelligent production systems.

As they continue to scale, they are looking for a Head of Hardware Engineering to lead the development of complex automated machines from prototype through to production-ready deployment.

The Role

This is a hands-on engineering leadership role where you'll own the hardware design and product maturity of highly complex automated systems.

Working closely with software, robotics and automation teams, you'll lead a small hardware team whilst remaining heavily involved in design, testing and continuous product improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of complex automated machinery from prototype to production.
  • Design mechanical systems, tooling and fixtures for real-world deployment.
  • Drive product reliability, manufacturability and continuous improvement.
  • Integrate robotics and automation into larger machine systems.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing hardware engineering team.

Skills Desired

  • Experience designing complex automated or electromechanical machinery.
  • Strong mechanical design background with hands-on engineering expertise.
  • Experience taking products through build, testing and production.
  • Previous technical leadership experience within a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Experience working within a start-up is highly advantageous.
  • Background in Robotics or Mechanical Engineering is essential
