IT Director
Newport | Bristol | Devon | South West
IntaPeople are pleased to be appointed exclusively on the recruitment of a newly created executive-level IT Director for a Group of businesses that has experienced sustained growth since inception and now operates across multiple regulated sectors and regions. The organisation currently supports 40+ settings and employs more than 700+ Team Members.
The proposed role would provide executive-level oversight of technology strategy, digital transformation, cyber security, infrastructure planning, business continuity, information governance and enterprise-wide systems development. The role is intended to support the continued development of a scalable, resilient and strategically aligned technology function suitable for a growing and geographically diverse organisation.
This role focuses on leveraging emerging technologies to drive revenue, scale operations, and manage enterprise-wide risk, while delegating and holding to account day-to-day service delivery of the Head of IT.
As the organisation continues to expand, the operational complexity, regulatory requirements, digital dependency and scale of the Group have increased significantly. Technology is now a critical enabler of operational resilience, regulatory compliance, service quality, communication, cyber security and organisational scalability.
Key Responsibilities at a glance
- Enterprise Architecture & Transformation: Design the multi-year digital roadmap to transition the Group from legacy systems to scalable, cloud-first and AI-driven environments where appropriate.
- Business-IT Alignment: Collaborate with the C-Suite and GLT to ensure technology is a catalyst for business growth rather than just a support function.
- Capital Investment Strategy: Oversee the total cost of ownership (TCO) for Group-wide technology investments; perform high-level ROI analysis for major capital expenditures.
- M&A Support: Lead technical due diligence and integration strategies for business acquisitions and expansion.
- Information Security Governance: Set the high-level security posture and risk appetite for the Group; lead the strategic response to evolving global threat landscapes.
- Data & Analytics: Champion a Group-wide data strategy that moves beyond GDPR compliance into business intelligence and predictive analytics to inform executive decision-making.
- Data Protection and DSAR’s: Will assume the role of the Group’s Data Protection Officer.
- Strategic Vendor Management: Manage high-level relationships with technology partners at an account-executive level.
- Organisational Design: Architect the future structure of the IT and technology related departments to ensure they scale ahead of the Group’s growth.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
