UK Semiconductor Centre
The UK Semiconductor Centre (UKSC) is an industry-led organisation whose remit is to strengthen the UK semiconductor industry and build upon its impressive international success to date.
With committed support from government, UKSC will have the time and resources to establish long-term initiatives that will supercharge the success of UK semiconductors over many years. This will positively impact the whole of the UK’s ‘deep tech’ ecosystem and economy.
IC Resources has been tasked with helping to establish the founding leadership team and one of these key hires is a Director of Investment, where you will bring significant ‘deep tech’ investment experience to this role, forging relationships with government, corporate and venture investors both nationally and internationally.
Director of Investment
The Director of Investment will lead the UKSC’s strategy for securing and mobilising financial resources to support innovation and growth across the UK semiconductor sector. The post holder will be responsible for building enduring relationships with investors, including the British Business Bank, National Wealth Fund, Venture Capital Organisation, InnovateUK, investment teams and other financial stakeholders. The Director will play a critical role in creating and promoting investment pathways and in nurturing a UK venture capital ecosystem that is receptive to hardware and semiconductor opportunities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
