About the Role
The Director of Nursing delivers senior clinical leadership and shared governance across the Green Cross Health (GXH) network.
The role includes:
- Nursing workforce leadership, driving high performance and clinical outcomes.
- Implementing new models of care (including team-based care) in collaboration with the Clinical Director.
- Clinical governance oversight, with Board-level reporting to:
- The Green Cross Health Board of Directors
- The Community Care Board of Directors

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high-performing nursing team, with expertise in performance management, coaching, and senior nurse development.
- Drive clinical and workforce outcomes through innovative care models.
- Ensure strong collaboration with leadership while maintaining high levels of discretion and professionalism.
- Improve primary care frameworks, contracting, and funding strategies, leveraging clinical data for decision-making.
- Manage PMS systems (e.g., Thalamus, Halcyon, Karo) and healthcare governance tools (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Communicate effectively in written and verbal formats across multiple stakeholder groups.
Requirements
- Qualifications: Tertiary-qualified with a Bachelor of Health Science (Nursing) or higher.
- Experience:
- Primary care / general practice (10+ years).
- Proven healthcare leadership, including team-based model implementation and Measurable clinical/workforce outcomes.
- PMS systems (Thalamus, Halcyon, Karo) and standard office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong change management and project leadership skills.
- Soft Skills:
- Clear and adaptive communicator (verbal & written).
- Ability to manage cross-functional relationships with collaboration and professionalism.
