Director of Onshore Asset Management

Director – Onshore Renewables

Location

You’ll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following: Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Havant, Reading, London, Belfast or Dublin, with flexibility for other SSER locations considered.

Salary & Benefits £124,200 – £186,200 (UK) / €165,600 – €248,400 (Ireland)

About the Role

Are you a senior leader driven by renewable energy, commercial performance, and operational excellence? Join our Onshore Renewables Leadership Team to:

  • Shape strategic, operational and commercial growth across the UK, Ireland, and Europe.
  • Maximise value from our onshore asset portfolio while delivering safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
  • Accelerate the net-zero transition through long-term capital investments.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Strategy

  • Inspire a diverse, high-performing team to drive safety, innovation, and sustainability in asset operations.
  • Develop short/medium/long-term strategies for operational maintenance and lifecycle management, prioritising:
    • Safety
    • Reliability
    • Availability
    • Asset performance
    • Whole-life value optimisation

Commercial & Financial Expertise

  • Balance operational excellence with commercial performance, aligning decisions with:
    • Finance teams (capital budgets, risk management)
    • Energy Markets (revenue optimisation)
    • Investment portfolios (divestment/adverse decisions)
  • Drive significant capital programmes, supplier negotiations, and portfolio asset management.

Digital Transformation

  • Champion AI, data analytics, and digital tools to:
    • Enhance maintenance strategies
    • Predict equipment performance
    • Optimise fleet management

Stakeholder & Partnership Representation

  • Actively engage in:
    • Joint Venture partnerships
    • Governance boards
    • Executive forums To advance business strategy, portfolio growth, and organisational resilience.

Requirements

Experience

  • Proven 10+ years leading large-scale infrastructure portfolios (onshore renewables ideally).
  • Deep expertise in balanced operational/commercial leadership (e.g., asset management, key market roles in renewables).
  • Capital investment programme leadership, supplier negotiations, and stakeholder alignment.

Technical & Commercial Skills

  • Strong grasp of renewable energy markets, lifecycle economics, and net-zero strategies.
  • Ability to interpret and leverage data, AI and digital tools in operational contexts.

Leadership Qualities

  • Track record of transforming high-performing teams during change (e.g., digital adoption, cultural shifts).
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, including Director-level negotiation and boardroom presence.
