Operations Director | Acute Private Healthcare
Hertfordshire - Full Time
Up to £75,000K DOE

Compass Associates are delighted to be partnering with a highly respected and growing independent healthcare provider in the search for an experienced Operations Director to join their Senior Leadership Team.
This is a rare opportunity for a commercially focused operational leader to play a key strategic role within a modern private hospital environment that is committed to delivering exceptional patient care, outstanding customer service, and sustainable growth.
Working closely with the CEO and Director of Clinical Services, the Operations Director will take overall responsibility for all non-clinical operational functions across the hospital. The successful candidate will lead the delivery of operational excellence, ensuring services are efficient, compliant, patient-focused, and aligned with the wider organisational strategy.
The organisation has ambitious growth plans and is seeking an individual who can bring strong leadership, commercial awareness, and operational expertise to support both service development and the continued enhancement of patient experience.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Providing strategic and operational leadership across all non-clinical departments
- Leading patient services functions including enquiries, bookings, and appointments to ensure an exceptional patient journey
- Overseeing estates, facilities management, hotel services, health & safety, and information governance
- Supporting the CEO and wider leadership team in delivering organisational objectives and growth plans
- Driving operational performance against quality, financial, and service KPIs
- Managing outsourced contracts and supplier relationships to maximise operational efficiency and value
- Leading on health & safety compliance and ensuring effective risk management processes are embedded across the hospital
- Developing and managing operational budgets, ensuring strong financial oversight and performance reporting
- Supporting commercial initiatives and contributing to local self-pay pricing strategies to maintain competitiveness within the market
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, innovation, and enhanced service delivery
- Leading, coaching, and developing operational teams while fostering a positive and high-performing culture
- Ensuring the hospital environment consistently reflects high standards of presentation, safety, and patient experience
- Working collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders to support integrated service delivery and organisational success

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

- Significant senior operational leadership experience, ideally within healthcare or another highly regulated environment
- A strong track record of delivering operational and commercial performance improvements
- Experience leading complex services, programmes of change, and organisational transformation
- Strong financial management and budgetary control experience
- Demonstrable success managing estates, facilities, outsourced services, and operational functions
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
- The ability to lead high-performing teams and drive a culture of accountability and service excellence
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities
- Exceptional communication and relationship management skills
