Operational Director – Neuro Division

Located: South of England

Join one of the UK’s largest independent providers in neurological, complex care, and mental healthcare.

We are seeking an experienced Operational Director to lead the growth and operational delivery of our expanding Neuro Division.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role offers a rare opportunity to drive the transformation of specialist neurological, spinal, and neurorehabilitation care services within a progressive independent healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the operational strategy and performance of the Neuro Division, with a focus on South England region.
  • Oversee the conversion and enhancement of specialist neurological and spinal care homes into hospital-level services.
  • Ensure full alignment with healthcare regulations, including compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with consultants, referring clinicians, and private insurers.
  • Drive operational excellence, optimise patient experience, and facilitate service growth opportunities.
  • Support broad multi-site operations, including travel to London and nationally as required.

Core Areas of Focus

Service Development

  • Lead the transformation and innovation of neurological services.
  • Identify growth opportunities to expand care pathways and improve patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to pioneer new healthcare models.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to CQC standards and best practice frameworks.
  • Maintain robust quality assurance, risk management, and clinical governance.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong working relationships with consultants, insurers, and commissioners.
  • Foster partnerships with private healthcare providers and other commissioning bodies.

Operational Performance

  • Drive operational efficiency and service growth.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) relating to patient outcomes, safety, and delivery standards.
  • Lead and develop senior operational teams across the division.

About You

Essential Requirements

  • Senior operational leadership experience, typically as a Hospital Director, Divisional Director, or Operations Director.
  • Strong knowledge of private healthcare and insurance-funded care pathways.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex healthcare services.
  • Deep understanding of hospital governance, compliance, and quality frameworks.
  • Based in the South of England, with willingness to travel nationally.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Senior operational leadership experience within hospital environments.
  • Direct experience in the independent healthcare/private hospital sector.
  • Strong understanding of insurance-funded healthcare pathways.
  • Experience managing complex clinical services or multi-site operations.
  • Proven leadership, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

  • Specific experience in:
    • Neurological services
    • Neurorehabilitation
    • Neuroscience care
  • History of leading service transformation or hospital development projects.
