About the Role
The Client Payroll Operations (CPO) Team is a dynamic, high-energy team that provides top-tier contingent workforce payroll processing and support to Magnit’s field services teams working onsite at top-name companies globally.
As the Director of Client Payroll Operations, you will oversee and manage all aspects of the client payroll operations department responsible for covering the EMEA and APAC regions. This role demands strategic leadership, strong operational expertise, and a deep understanding of payroll processes and systems. You will lead a team of payroll professionals to ensure accurate, timely payroll processing for our clients while driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and client satisfaction.
What You Will Do
- Lead and manage the client payroll operations department, overseeing all aspects of payroll processing—including data entry, validation, calculation, and distribution.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to optimize payroll processes, enhance operational efficiency, and improve service quality.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards related to payroll processing and client service.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, client services, and IT, to align payroll operations with client needs and business objectives.
- Implement best practices and conduct financial checks to ensure program profitability.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, building and maintaining strong relationships and addressing any issues or concerns ** timelessly and effectively**.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics related to payroll operations, tracking performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the payroll operations team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, and protocols for payroll processing and client service.
- Prepare and present regular reports and updates to senior management on payroll operations performance, issues, and opportunities.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in payroll processing, technology, and client service, leveraging knowledge to drive innovation and improvement.
- Expand payroll services to new countries at Magnit.

What You Will Need
- 15+ years of experience in payroll operations management, with a proven track record of successfully leading and managing payroll teams, including 10+ years of managerial experience.
- Strong understanding of payroll processes, systems, and regulations, with experience in both domestic and international payroll operations.
- Strong leadership and management skills, able to inspire and motivate teams to achieve goals and deliver results.
- Strategic thinker able to develop and implement initiatives to drive operational excellence and client satisfaction.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with abilities to identify issues, analyze data, and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—effective with clients, stakeholders, and diverse teams.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in payroll processing and client service.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple priorities.
- Experience with payroll processing systems, preferably Deel, Dayforce, PeopleSoft, or similar large-scale ERP systems.
- Experience in managing independent relationships and collaboration with remote or cross-time zone leadership.
- Preferred: CIPP Foundation Degree in Payroll Management or similar equivalent certification.
