First Choice Homes Oldham is seeking an experienced and inspirational repairs leader to join the organisation as Director of Repairs & Maintenance.
This is a pivotal and exciting time for the organisation. We have recently launched our new Corporate Plan, Customer and Communities Strategy, and Homes Strategy, setting out an ambitious vision for the future with a clear commitment to deliver excellent services for our customers.
We are looking for a leader who shares our ambition and has the passion, expertise and drive to help us achieve it. Reporting to the Executive Director of Customer Experience, this is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the strategic and operational delivery of responsive repairs, empty homes repairs and Neighbourhood Care services. But this is about more than operational excellence, we need someone who can inspire teams, lead cultural change, embrace innovation and work collaboratively across the organisation to deliver meaningful and lasting improvements.
About the Role
As Director of Repairs & Maintenance, you will provide strategic leadership across repairs, maintenance and neighbourhood services, leading both an in-house workforce and external contractors to deliver high-quality, customer-focused services.
You will lead the development and delivery of service improvement plans, ensuring services are efficient, compliant and aligned with organisational priorities, while supporting FCHO's wider transformation agenda.

The role combines strategic leadership with operational oversight and requires an individual who can balance long-term service improvement with day-to-day performance management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic and operational delivery of responsive repairs, empty homes repairs and Neighbourhood Care services.
- Develop and implement a clear repairs and maintenance strategy aligned to organisational objectives.
- Drive service transformation and continuous improvement, enhancing customer experience and operational efficiency.
- Improve repairs performance, customer satisfaction and service reliability.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and statutory requirements, including Building Safety, Health & Safety legislation and Awaab's Law.
- Oversee strategic contractor management, procurement activity and supply chain performance.
- Manage substantial budgets and resources, ensuring value for money and strong financial control.
- Use data, performance insight and customer feedback to drive informed decision-making and service improvements.
- Build and develop high-performing teams, strengthening leadership capability and embedding organisational values.
- Work collaboratively across the wider Customer Directorate to improve outcomes for customers and communities.
- Provide assurance through robust governance, risk management and performance reporting.

About You
You will bring:
- Significant leadership experience within repairs and maintenance services, ideally within social housing.
- A proven track record of leading large-scale operational service delivery.
- Experience delivering service transformation and performance improvement programmes.
- Strong knowledge of social housing regulation, compliance and consumer standards.
- Experience managing substantial budgets, contracts and contractor relationships.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen.
- The ability to use performance data and customer insight to drive decision-making.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to lead through influence and build trust across teams.
