Director of Software Engineering
Nottingham | £140k + Exceptional Bonus + Car Allowance - £200k + total package
We’re partnering with a well-established, UK-based SaaS business that’s entering a major growth phase with a new platform on the horizon that will complete their SaaS offering to compete with major tech players globally. The business have grown to nearly 1,000 employees now and have been a driving force in their industry for decades. This is a senior, high-impact leadership role with real ownership, delivery, and visibility at board level.
The Opportunity
You’ll take full ownership of engineering delivery for a brand new Finance SaaS platform, leading multi-disciplinary teams across the UK.
- The platform is live, the ambition is big, and expectations are high.
- The business is investing heavily and now needs a commercial, technically credible Director to lead delivery, scale the product, and build long-term in-house capability.

This is a leadership role that suits someone who’s grown from an engineering background and thrives in complex, delivery-driven environments.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Owning end-to-end engineering delivery for a Finance SaaS product
- Leading a team of 15 Engineers initially but responsible for scaling that team way beyond that
- Balancing new feature development with BAU stability
- Partnering closely with Product, Design, Finance, and Exec stakeholders
- Driving high standards across security, performance, reliability, and compliance
- Introducing modern engineering practices, including AI-enabled development
- Delivering against hard commercial deadlines
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience leading engineering teams at scale in a SaaS environment
- Strong technical background (ex-developer) - credible at architecture and delivery level
- Experience scaling complex platforms, ideally in finance, ERP, or regulated domains
- Commercial mindset - understands how engineering/product impacts customer base, revenue growth and ensures they can compete in the market
- Confident stakeholder manager who can challenge constructively
- Experience with finance platforms, transactional systems, analytics, or ERP-style products is highly desirable.
- Tech stack - C#, .NET, Azure, Angular

Package
- Salary: up to £140,000
- Bonus: Performance based - 35%
- Car allowance
- Private healthcare + strong benefits package
- Onsite - Nottingham (may have a slight flex but this Director of Engineering needs to be present with the team and c-suite)
