Director of Technical Services
£100,000 - £125,000 + Bonus | Hybrid | Service-Provider
Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Technical Services to join its Senior Leadership Team. This is a broad, strategic leadership role responsible for technical delivery, service excellence, governance, innovation, and the ongoing development of multiple technical disciplines across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership across all technical service areas
- Own technical governance, compliance, audits, and certification programmes
- Lead large-scale networking, hosting, cloud, and infrastructure initiatives
- Support business growth through senior-level pre-sales engagement and solution design
- Contribute to product strategy, service development, and go-to-market planning
- Act as executive sponsor for key customer relationships and technical escalations
- Oversee supplier relationships, technical partnerships, and service standards
- Develop technical leadership capability across management teams
- Drive continual improvement, operational maturity, and service innovation
- Collaborate closely with commercial, customer success, HR, legal, and operational stakeholders

What You'll Be Doing
- Governance, audits, certifications, and compliance programmes
- Major networking, cloud, and hosting projects
- Product strategy and service development
- Supporting sales, bids, tenders, and customer presentations
- Leadership and mentoring of technical management teams
- Supplier and operational oversight
Essential Experience
We are seeking a technically credible leader with broad experience across multiple disciplines rather than a narrow specialism.
You will bring:
- Strong networking expertise including core networking, firewalls, SD-WAN, and SASE technologies
- Broad understanding of infrastructure, cloud platforms, hosted services, and modern workplace technologies
- Experience managing technical governance, audits, and industry certifications
- Knowledge of frameworks such as ISO standards, Cyber Essentials Plus, and regulated security environments
- Proven ability to operate effectively at both strategic and technical levels
- Strong pre-sales, bid support, and solution design experience
- Experience leading and developing technical teams through line managers
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to prioritise effectively across numerous concurrent initiatives

Highly Desirable
- Managed Service Provider (MSP) or technology services background
- Experience supporting public sector or highly regulated environments
- Technical architecture, consultancy, or solutions leadership experience
- Exposure to large-scale customer bids, tenders, and procurement processes
- Experience working across cloud, infrastructure, networking, security, and software delivery functions
