The Opportunity
AGP are searching on behalf of a leading UK food supply chain and logistics business to appoint an Interim Technology Director to lead a critical phase of its technology transformation programme. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced technology executive who can quickly assess the current technology landscape, establish clear priorities and accelerate the delivery of several strategic initiatives already underway.
The business is investing significantly in its warehouse network, automation capability and operational technology estate. The successful individual will play a key role in modernising legacy systems, supporting the rollout of new distribution centres and ensuring technology becomes a true enabler of operational performance.
Whilst initially offered as a 6-9 month fixed-term contract, there is genuine potential for the role to become permanent.
The Role
Joining the executive leadership team, you will provide immediate leadership across technology, operational systems and automation, ensuring both day-to-day service delivery and long-term transformation remain on track.

Key responsibilities include:
- Providing executive leadership across warehouse technology, operational systems and logistics platforms
- Accelerating a major warehouse technology transformation programme
- Supporting the delivery of new automated distribution centres
- Reviewing the current technology estate and identifying opportunities to improve resilience, scalability and operational performance
- Working closely with operations, engineering and senior business leaders to ensure technology investments deliver measurable business outcomes
- Leading strategic technology suppliers and implementation partners
- Coaching, developing and strengthening a technology function
- Driving improvements across Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transport Management Systems (TMS), automation and operational technology
- Ensuring technology governance, cybersecurity and service delivery remain robust throughout the transformation programme
About You
We're looking for a hands-on technology leader who can quickly build credibility within a complex operational environment and deliver meaningful change from day one.
You'll ideally bring:
- Significant technology leadership experience within food logistics, grocery supply chain, 3PL or similarly complex distribution environments
- Proven success leading large-scale technology transformation programmes
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations, automation and logistics technology
- Experience modernising legacy technology estates whilst maintaining operational stability
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior operational and executive leaders
- A track record of leading and developing technology teams through periods of change
- Commercial awareness and the ability to balance operational priorities with strategic investment decisions
