About The Role

What will you be doing?
In This Role, You Will
- Set the strategic direction for technology and digital, ensuring alignment with the Council’s priorities and transformation ambitions.
- Lead the design, development and delivery of high-quality, customer-focused technology and digital services.
- Drive innovation, including the use of AI and emerging technologies, while ensuring risks are understood and effectively managed.
- Transform and develop the Technology and Digital service, embedding best practice, modern delivery approaches and a strong performance culture.
- Oversee major programmes and projects, ensuring new systems and solutions are delivered successfully without disruption to frontline services.
- Provide leadership across operations, infrastructure, cyber security, service delivery, and contract and supplier management.
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, Members, partners and suppliers, providing clear and expert advice.
- Lead financial and commercial management of the service, delivering efficiencies, value for money and measurable outcomes.
- Develop and inspire high-performing teams, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and inclusion.
About You
You will be a strategic and visionary leader with a strong track record of delivering large-scale technology and digital services in complex organisations.
You Will Bring
- Significant senior leadership experience in technology and digital, including leading large, complex IT service portfolios.
- Proven experience of driving transformation, improving services and leading change across operations, teams and delivery models.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience of managing substantial budgets, contracts and supplier relationships.
- A track record of developing innovative, customer-focused digital solutions that deliver measurable organisational benefits.
- Experience of working effectively with senior stakeholders, building partnerships and influencing at the highest levels.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable insight.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate and develop diverse teams to deliver high performance.
- An understanding of the public sector (ideally local government) and the political, financial and operational context in which it operates.
- Above all, you will be passionate about using technology and digital innovation to make a real difference to the lives of residents and communities.
