An established strategic communications consultancy is looking to appoint a Director to support its continued growth, leading client work, new business and a high-performing team within its public affairs practice. Working closely with Westminster and Whitehall stakeholders, it supports clients across a range of sectors on some of the UK's most significant policy challenges.
The Director Role
Following sustained growth and increasing demand, the consultancy is investing further in its public affairs offering, creating a new Director position as part of its long-term expansion.
As Director, you will combine senior client leadership with commercial responsibility. This is a broad role with significant influence across the business, including:
- Leading new business activity from origination through to pitch and conversion.
- Providing senior strategic counsel on public affairs and communications programmes.
- Contributing to operational management, including resourcing and P&L responsibilities.
- Line managing a team of approximately 4–5.
- Working closely with the wider senior leadership team to support the continued growth of the practice.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
