The role

As Director, Scientific Services, you will lead the scientific and editorial team to deliver high-quality, compliant, and impactful medical communications that exceed client expectations. You will take responsibility for resource management, recruitment, and team development, while working closely with client services to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and aligned with strategic objectives.

This senior role is ideal for an experienced medical communications professional with strong leadership, commercial awareness, and a proven track record in scientific writing and team management. You will inspire confidence with clients and external experts, contribute to business growth through proposals and pitches, and act as a role model across the agency, driving both scientific excellence and commercial success.

Requirements

At least 10 years' healthcare agency experience in senior roles A life sciences degree, ideally combined with a higher degree (science Masters, PhD, or MD) Proven track record in leading an editorial/scientific team within a medical communications agency Extensive medical writing experience in a medical communications or pharma environment across a broad range of projects and therapeutic areas Line management/mentoring and reviewing experience in a medical communications agency Strong leadership and motivational skills Commercial awareness relating to financial management of medical communications business Experience of developing and attending new business pitches
