The Senior Director Finance Operations, EMEA role is a transformational leadership position within a multi-country region. You’ll drive innovation across finance operations, governance, and modernisation—standardising processes, leveraging automation, and integrating AI-enabled solutions to enhance financial excellence.
Location: EMEA hubs (Madrid, Paris, London, Düsseldorf, Milan, Warsaw)
Role Overview
Accountable for end-to-end Finance Operations and controllership across complex, multi-country operations in the EU. You’ll lead finance governance excellence with a strong mandate to revolutionise the finance operating model—harmonise processes, scale AI, and optimise efficiency at scale.
Key Accountabilities
Finance Operations & Governance
- Own end-to-end accounting, statutory reporting, and close governance across EMEA
- Ensure accurate US GAAP financial reporting and a robust business control environment
- Lead audit responses, investigative processes, and high-risk issue resolution
- Drive compliance with all local country finance external reporting requirements
- Uphold adherence to Boston Scientific Finance and Accounting Policies
Transformation & Digital Finance Leadership
- Lead large-scale Finance transformation initiatives across processes, people, and systems
- Harmonise, streamline, and standardise cross-region finance operations
- Identify, implement, and scale AI and automation initiatives with measurable impact
- Embed AI into core Finance processes, delivering tangible operational improvements

Shared Services & Operating Model
-Govern performance of Global Business Services (GBS) and Shared Services and outsourced providers
- Lead transitions and manage operating model evolution
- Define and optimise roles for retained vs. shared services within the organisation
Organisational Leadership
- Lead and inspire cross-functional teams across multiple countries
- Drive organisation transformation and capability building
- Provide strategic financial guidance to senior leadership
Experience Requirements (Must-Have)
Essential: Finance & Operational Transformations
- Proven experience leading AI-driven Finance transformations, including full-cycle AI/automation adoption with measurable outcomes
- Strong track record of large-scale Finance programs (e.g., ERP implementation, shared services, process harmonisation) and organisational restructuring
- Experience with Global Business Services (GBS) / Shared Services models
- Expertise in leading large international finance teams within matrix organisations (e.g., closing, reporting, controls), with a proven ability to influence cross-regionally and across EMEA functions
Expertise in Finance Integrity & Compliance
- Expertise in accounting standards (US GAAP/IFRS) and compliance for a complex multi-country environment
- Strong experience in audit management, internal controls, and high-assurance financial reporting
- Hands-on experience with internal audits, regulatory scrutiny, and high-risk issue resolution

Technical & Operational Requirements
- Experience managing international Shared Service Centers
Preferred: Differentiators
- Advocated and scaled AI solutions across regions or operating units
- Transformed FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) to support digitalisation
- Experience in M&A operational integrations or operating model redsigns
- Background in audit (internal or external)
