Director, Shared Accounting & Financial Services Department

Physical Facilities Worker Type: Regular

Pay Type: Salary Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Benefit Eligible: Yes Screening Date: 2026-07-09

Salary Range

  • Minimum: $150,000
  • Maximum: $160,000 Note: Salary will be commensurate with the level of the position, education, and experience.

About the Role

The Director, Shared Accounting & Financial Services Department will oversee the financial and budgetary operations for the university’s facilities and auxiliary services, including athletics. This includes:

  • Developing and executing annual budgets
  • Monitoring financial compliance and policy adherence
  • Ensuring fiscal sustainability and performance expectations in the transition to Workday ERP

The role reports primarily to the Senior Vice President for Finance and Business Services and the Budget Office, while collaborating closely with the Vice President for Facilities Planning and Operations and the Universities’ Athletic Director.


Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Planning & Oversight

  • Direct the formulation, assessment, and execution of annual financial plans for:
    • Athletics (including all sports)
    • Physical facilities (e.g., campus buildings, maintenance)
    • Residence & dining halls
    • Auxiliary programs
  • Collaborate with coaching staff, department heads, and executives to align auxiliary budgets with long-term fiscal goals.

2. Operational Supervision

  • Oversee Shared Accounting Department operations, supervising:
    • Assistant Director
    • Accounting Manager
    • Accounting specialists (both in the physical facility office and athletics)
  • Ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with all contractual obligations in auxiliary accounting.

3. Process Improvement & Analytics

  • Implement Lean methodologies to optimize workflows and enhance financial processes.
  • Produce recurring reports, including dashboard summaries, to track department financial health.
  • Establish performance metrics and KPIs for continuous improvements.

4. Technology & Strategic Guidance

  • Evaluate and provide recommendations for improvements within Workday ERP.
  • Drive financial modeling and forecasting to support evolving university needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience, including:
    • 5+ years in fiscal oversight or budget management.
  • Demonstrated progress in leadership and complex financial project execution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree.
  • Workday ERP experience.
  • Proficiency with Tableau for financial reporting/dashboards.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong grasp of accounting principles, budgeting frameworks, and financial controls.
  • Proven record of guiding teams in complex financial initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating professionalism, diplomacy, and tact in managing interactions across departments.
