More About The Role

We are looking for a Director (or Associate Partner) to join our team as a strategic architect of client success. In this role, you will lead some of our significant sustainability mandates, primarily within the Energy, Natural Resources, and Leisure sectors.

As the market enters a new era of "reporting integration," you will be the lead consultant guiding clients through the pivot toward CSRD (ESRS) and ISSB (IFRS S1 & S2) compliance. This is not just about document production; it is about leading the "quantitative leap"—ensuring sustainability data is as robust, audit-ready, and strategically aligned as financial reporting. You will provide the high-level counsel that helps clients transform ESG from a compliance burden into a competitive advantage in the capital markets.

What You'll Do

Lead Strategic Mandates: You aren’t just a project manager; you are the primary strategic lead for high-profile international accounts. You will oversee the end-to-end delivery of complex sustainability and integrated reports, ensuring every piece of content moves "hearts, minds, and people. Lead (Double) Materiality Assessments: You will lead the deep-dive assessments that identify the ESG issues driving long-term value. You’ll help clients understand their impacts and risks, ensuring these insights are woven into their core business strategy. Master the Regulatory Frontier: You will be the expert voice in the room, advising clients on how to navigate the shift to mandatory disclosures (UK SRS, IFRS S1 & S2, and CSRD). You will ensure their reporting frameworks are resilient and future-proof. The Quantitative Leap: You will bridge the gap between "narrative qualitative" and "data-led quantitative" disclosure. You will work with clients to refine their KPIs, improve data governance, and ensure their non-financial metrics stand up to investor scrutiny. Nurture the Next Generation: You will provide consistent mentorship to our junior consultants, delegating with purpose and playing to individual strengths to ensure high-quality delivery. Drive Agency Innovation: You will contribute to the evolution of our proprietary tools and platforms (suck as Workiva and Ctrl Print). helping us build a "finance-grade" delivery model that sets the industry standard. Network Ambassador: As a "Burson Champion", you will collaborate across the global network, leveraging our EMEA and US platforms to cross-sell sustainability expertise to the world's most influential brands. Commercial Leadership: You will identify opportunities to extend existing mandates and lead high-stakes pitches, helping to secure and grow our multi-million-pound reporting pipeline.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
