Job Title: Planning Director
Location: Sheffield
Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading, employee-owned planning consultancy in the appointment of a Planning Director to lead and grow its established Sheffield office.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced planning professional looking to take on a strategic leadership position, combining project delivery, team management, and business development within a highly respected multidisciplinary consultancy.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future growth of the Sheffield office while working on a diverse portfolio of projects including residential developments, strategic mixed-use schemes, urban regeneration, education, advanced manufacturing, renewable energy, and enforcement matters.
The Role
- Lead, mentor, and develop an established planning team.
- Manage major planning applications, appeals, Local Plan representations, site promotions, and public inquiry work.
- Develop existing client relationships while securing new business opportunities across the region.
- Take responsibility for office performance, financial planning, and resource management.
- Contribute to the wider business strategy as part of the senior leadership team.
- Collaborate with colleagues across planning, urban design, transport, architecture, sustainability, and research.

Requirements
- MRTPI Chartered Town Planner.
- Around 10+ years professional planning experience, ideally within consultancy or a combination of private and public sector.
- Strong experience leading complex planning projects.
- Proven leadership, people management, and mentoring skills.
- A successful track record in business development and client relationship management.
- Full UK driving licence.
