Job Details

  • Role: Part-time (21 hrs/week), permanent
  • Working Arrangements: Split between Horizons (Reading, Berkshire) and Home
  • Salary: Up to £18,600 pa (equivalent to £31,000 pa FTE) plus benefits

The Opportunity

A brilliant role has opened for a compassionate, student-focused professional with a passion for supporting others to join our Disability and Welfare Team.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide information, advice, and guidance to students with disabilities.
  • Help students feel supported and empowered throughout their time at university.
  • Make a real impact on student experiences by actively supporting them to access resources, adjustments, and services.

You’ll also help foster a culture of self-advocacy, equipping students with the knowledge, confidence, and tools to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualised support to students (often with complex needs), including:
    • Assessing their requirements
    • Determining and implementing support arrangements
    • Monitoring progress and progress
  • Advise students on Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) and other financial support applications, ensuring applications are successful.
  • Collaborate with academic and professional services to ensure students’ needs are met and inclusive, holistic provision is delivered.

Requirements

  • Evidence of relevant Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
  • Relevant paid/voluntary experience in delivering pastoral support
  • A strong sense of resilience and ability to:
    • Listen carefully to students sharing distressing circumstances
    • Provide empathetic, constructive advice
