Disability Assessor

Disability Assessor Role – NMC or HCPC Professional Opportunity

Eligibility: Open to applications from NMC and HCPC professionals.

About the Role

The Disability Assessor role offers an excellent opportunity to work with a people-focused organisation.

What’s on offer?

  • Excellent starting salary: £39,500 per annum
  • Standard working hours: Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm
  • Flexible hours: Full-time (35 hrs/week) or part-time (22.5 or 37.5 hrs/week) available
  • Location options: Pontefract-based when conducting on-site assessments; hybrid/homeworking available
  • Leave entitlement: 25 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays (plus the option to buy or sell up to 5 more days)
  • Pension scheme, with an emphasis on your long-term security
  • Full support in meeting NMC/HCPC CPD requirements, including fee coverage and revalidation assistance

  • Conducting three client assessments daily, typically via telephone, video, or face-to-face
  • Gathering detailed information from clients about how a disability or health condition impacts their daily life
  • Listening to their experiences, asking insightful questions, and compiling an impartial fact-based report for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)
  • Remaining objective—the final decision on benefits eligibility belongs to the DWP

Requirements

We are looking for qualified professionals with strong applicability to this role:

  • Qualification:

    • NMC registered (e.g., RGN, RMN, or RNLD)
    • OR HCPC qualified in:
      • Physiotherapy
      • Paramedic practice
      • Occupational therapy
  • Relevant Experience: Minimum 1 year of post-registration in clinical or non-NMC/HCPC-related domains

  • Key Traits & Skills:

    • Proactive and eager to learn and apply new skills
    • Excellent oral and written communication to assist clients and generate reports
    • Competent IT and computer skills to manage digital records and assessments
    • Ability to comfortably engage with diverse conditions, including those relating to mental health
