This post is Fixed term/Secondment until 31/03/2027 to meet the needs of the service.

We are seeking an organised and motivated Ward Clerk to join our busy Discharge team at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.
The successful candidate will provide efficient administrative support to facilitate the timely and safe discharge of patients from hospital. They will maintain accurate patient records, update electronic systems and often be the first point of contact for patients, relatives and visitors.
They will also coordinate discharge documents and appointments, answer telephone enquiries and respond professionally to requests.
Previous experience of working in an administrative / customer service setting is essential including competence in IT skills. The candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
Main duties of the job
The Ward Clerk will give efficient clerical assistance to the Discharge Unit. The provision of an efficient clerical service is essential to ensure the speedy admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.

By the nature of the duties, the Ward Clerk will be required to maintain strict confidentiality and will be expected to deal with patients and relatives with courtesy and discretion at all times.
The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.

Essential criteria
- Maths/English GCSE or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- NVQ 2 in administration
- NVQ in customer service
- ECDL
Experience

- Sufficient months previous clerical/office/reception/ward duties
- Working with the public
- Working in a busy environment

- General experience of admin functions
