Dispenser – Community Pharmacy (London)

Hourly Rate: £13.92 to £16.64 (based on location within London)

About The Role

As a Dispenser in one of our boots stores, you’ll be at the heart of our pharmacy team, supporting the pharmacist and other healthcare professionals to deliver safe, efficient, and patient-centred care.

You’ll spend your time:

  • Building strong relationships with patients by listening to and understanding their needs
  • Greeting customers and dispensing prescriptions with accuracy and care
  • Ensuring safe medicine supply, from ordering and labelling to endorsing and collection
  • Providing healthcare advice to help patients make informed decisions about their well-being

This is a UK-based in-store role only. Remote applications will not be considered, nor will candidates outside the UK unless they hold current UK qualifications and the right to work in the UK.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prescription dispensing – Ensuring safe and accurate supply of medicines, including:
    • Ordering medications
    • Labelling and dispensing checks
    • Endorsing and collection of prescriptions
  • Supporting pharmacy services – Assisting colleagues in managing pharming work and adhering to best practice guidelines
  • Patient care & advice – Providing medicine information and referrals to the pharmacist when necessary
  • Following protocols – Compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for legal and safe prescription handling
  • Continual updating – Keeping abreast of healthcare innovations and operational processes
  • Medicine adherence support – Helping patients manage prescriptions efficiently to maximise adherence and reduce waste

You’ll also work with evolving technology to improve traditional dispensing methods, allowing you to spend more time with patients while enhancing patient safety.

Regular professional training and career development will be provided, including paths to becoming a Pharmacy Technician or progressing into store leadership.


Requirements

Essential

  • Completed (or part-way through) Charter award (York Award) for Pharmacy Advisors or:
    • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (NVQ2) or equivalent qualification
    • First year completed of an MPharm degree (Master of Pharmacy)
  • Valid UK right to work (Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship not available for this role)

Desirable

  • Prior experience in community pharmacy
