Start your legal career with Burges Salmon

Are you looking for a challenging opportunity in the legal sector? We are seeking one dedicated Paralegal to join our Dispute Resolution Team on a fixed-term basis (12 months) in Belfast.

With us, you can expect exposure to high quality and complex work, working alongside lawyers at the forefront of the sector in an environment where you can build your skills, work collaboratively and contribute to high-quality work that has real impact.

The Role

As a Paralegal within the Dispute Resolution team, your primary role will be to support fee earners on document review projects, with a particular focus on using Relativity software. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, technology-confident and interested in gaining experience in large-scale disclosure and investigations work, while continuing to develop their skills and expertise. As a Paralegal, you will have a varied role that requires you to be proactive, organised, accountable and committed, with the confidence to take ownership of your work and contribute as part of a collaborative team. Your core responsibilities will include the following:

  • Reviewing large volumes of electronic documents using Relativity in accordance with review protocols, client instructions and matter-specific guidance.
  • Identifying and coding documents for relevance, privilege, confidentiality, personal data and key issues accurately and consistently.
  • Carrying out quality control checks to ensure review decisions are applied consistently, maintaining high standards and escalating any uncertainties or potentially significant documents to the supervising lawyers with confidence and sound judgement.
  • Using Relativity search tools, filters, batching and other platform features to support efficient and accurate document review.
  • Assisting with the identification and handling of personally identifiable information and other sensitive material in line with legal, regulatory and client requirements.
  • Supporting disclosure, investigation and litigation matters by helping to organise, track and manage document populations through the review process.
  • Preparing review notes, summaries and escalation reports to assist the wider team in assessing key evidence, informing case strategy and delivering meaningful impact for clients.
  • Working closely with fee earners and other members of the matter team, sharing insight and contributing to collective success on high-volume, time-sensitive review projects.
  • Maintaining accurate review records and following agreed processes to support defensible and well-documented review outcomes, while taking ownership of the quality of your work.
  • Assisting the team generally with document-heavy dispute resolution matters and related administrative tasks where required.
  • Full training will be provided, as necessary.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
