The Role

The Distribution Control Centre (DCC) in Perth is responsible for the management and control of SSEN’s High Voltage Distribution Network, which stretches from the central belt of Scotland to Shetland. We cover some of the most remote parts of the UK mainland, with almost 50,000 kilometres of network carrying electricity to homes.

We are seeking a Distribution Control Engineer to join our dynamic team based in Perth. In this role, you’ll play a crucial part in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the electrical distribution network. You’ll work alongside professional engineers, applying your expertise to manage system performance, respond to network faults, and oversee switching operations.

This role offers a clear progression pathway: You will begin with a dayshift schedule, working a four-day week, gaining hands-on experience in control room operations. With time and development, you’ll have the opportunity to move into a shift-based role, expanding your responsibilities and career growth. If you’re ready for a challenging and rewarding role in distribution control, apply today and take the next step in your engineering career!

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
