A leading and growing distribution business is undergoing an exciting period of transformation and investment in its operational leadership team. As part of a newly evolved management structure, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Distribution Supervisor to play a key role in building capability, improving performance and creating a high-performing team culture.
Your new role
This is a hands-on leadership role where success will be measured not only by operational results, but by your ability to develop, motivate and improve the performance of your team. Working within a fast-paced warehouse and distribution environment, you will be responsible for leading from the front, setting clear expectations and creating a culture of accountability, engagement and continuous improvement. You'll spend significant time on the warehouse floor, coaching colleagues, supporting performance and ensuring KPIs, productivity targets and service levels are consistently achieved.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing a team within a busy distribution operation.
- Setting clear objectives, expectations and performance standards for individuals and teams.
- Monitoring KPIs, productivity and turnaround times, taking action where performance falls below expectations.
- Driving engagement, accountability and a high-performance culture.
- Coaching, mentoring and developing team members to maximise individual and team effectiveness.
- Conducting regular one-to-ones, performance reviews and development discussions.
- Managing attendance, absence processes and return-to-work meetings.
- Handling performance management and disciplinary matters in a fair and consistent manner.
- Supporting onboarding and ongoing training initiatives to build capability throughout the team.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, productivity and operational efficiency.
- Ensuring health and safety, compliance and housekeeping standards are maintained at all times.
- Remaining visible and hands-on within the operation, leading by example and supporting the team during peak periods.

What you'll need to succeed
The key requirement is proven leadership capability. The successful candidate will be someone who has a genuine passion for managing people and a track record of improving team performance.
You will be able to demonstrate:
- Previous supervisory or team management experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a fast-paced distribution environment.
- Prior leadership or team lead experience is strongly preferred within a fast-paced operational environment.
- A proven track record of improving team performance and driving engagement is beneficial.
- Ability to motivate, incentivise and develop individuals to achieve their full potential.
- Experience of coaching and supporting teams through performance improvement initiatives would be highly beneficial.
- Confidence in managing absence, attendance, conduct and disciplinary matters.
- Solid understanding of warehouse receiving, pick-pack and dispatch operations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Fork Lift Truck Licence Holder - VNA and Counterbalance is desirable - training can be provided.
