District Nurse Specialist Practitioner

The Role
An exciting full-time, permanent opportunity has arisen within the West Dunbartonshire District Nursing Team. As a District Nurse Specialist Practitioner, you will deliver high-quality, person-centred care to patients in their homes and communities.
Location & Responsibilities
- Base Location: Clydebank Health Centre
- Shift Pattern: Monday to Sunday, 4×9-hour shifts
- Rewarding & Dynamic Work: Lead and support the district nursing team, ensuring safe, responsive, and effective care across a diverse caseload while working closely with multidisciplinary partners to improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a defined district nursing caseload, ensuring safe, effective, person-centred care
- Provide skilled clinical interventions as the clinical expert in community nursing practice
- Coordinate workload, prioritise care needs, and respond to planned and urgent unscheduled requests
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and carers to deliver holistic care
- Delegate, supervise, and support team members to maintain high standards of practice and service delivery
- Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with professional, legal, and organisational standards
- Contribute to service improvement, audit, education, and team development

Requirements & Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (Adult Nursing)
- Specialist Practitioner Qualification in District Nursing at Master’s level or equivalent
- V300 Independent Prescribing qualification & advanced clinical assessment skills
- Demonstrable leadership and management experience within community or primary care
- Evidence of continuous professional development and a commitment to lifelong learning
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team
- IT proficiency in electronic patient record systems
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle
