District Nurse Specialist Practitioner - Community Nursing

District Nurse (Specialist Practitioner) – NHSGGC, East Dunbartonshire HSCP

Join us as a District Nurse (Specialist Practitioner) in an integrated community team. You’ll deliver high-quality, person-centred care, helping patients maintain independence in their own homes while exercising clinical leadership, innovation, and professional development in a progressive, supportive environment.

A critical requirement for this role is holding a live NMC UK PIN.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Management
    • Oversee a district nursing team, ensuring high-quality, safe, and person-centred care
    • Clinical Expertise

      • Conduct advanced assessments, care planning, and prescriptive expertise within your scope
      • Manage complex chronic, palliative, and urgent care needs
    • Multidisciplinary Collaboration
      • Coordinate integrated care across health and social care partners
      • Facilitate patient independence via holistic, client-focused planning
    • Team Development
      • Mentor and supervise nursing staff, students, and aspiring practitioners
    • Quality & Innovation
      • Monitor care outcomes via clinical audit, implement evidence-based practice
      • Adapt to service changes with prioritisation skills and contingency briefs

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Professional Registration:
    • Active NMC UK PIN enrolment as a Registered Nurse
  • Advanced Qualifications:
    • SPQ in Advancing Practice (District Nursing) at Master’s level
    • V300 Independent Prescribing qualification
    • Evidence of expertise in advanced clinical assessment
  • Leadership & Experience:
    • Identity multi-year direct care leadership in community/primary settings
    • Proven roadmap of professional development (CPD, courses, etc.)
  • Soft Skills & Competencies:
    • Leadership, communication, decision-making
    • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
    • Strong IT literacy and multidisciplinary integration
    • Flexibility to adapt to evolving demands

All applicanta will undergo sponsorship checks based on current Home Office rules—NHSGGC issues a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) only when requirements are met.
