DOA Chief Engineer (FAR) in GAC Farnborough
Unique Skills:
- The individual will need to demonstrate skills and experience as described in the job description, with the ability to hold CVE authorization as designated by the HDO.
- Demonstration of thorough knowledge of a DOA environment, and is conversant with FAA, EASA, and UK CAA regulations associated with initial airworthiness.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field required or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- Aviation experience required.
Position Purpose:
Oversight and coordination on all engineering projects within the DOA containing compliance demonstration, CAA, and/or EASA mandates, critical design problems, which requires extensive knowledge on development of design to certification compliance requirements.
Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for an entire engineering project from an engineering design perspective within the established scope per Design Organization Handbook (DOH).
- To be nominated as a CVE in at least one discipline area.
- To support HDO and/or HoA, and deputise when required.
- Makes technical decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive engineering activities, whilst supporting compliance verification with the applicable regulations.
- Applies advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts based on broad expertise or unique specialized knowledge.
- Leads the development of innovative principles and ideas.
- Acts independently to determine improved methods and/or procedures to optimize efficiency, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Works under consultative direction; uses independent judgment to accomplish objectives.
- Develops standards and guides for diverse engineering activities.

Additional Functions:
- When required, assumes delegation of departmental/managerial tasks.
- Mentoring and/or training on design applications and methodologies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements:
- Previous CVE experience or equivalent.
- Previous Form 4 holder desirable.
- Must have detailed knowledge of CAA Part 21J Regulations and Certification Specifications (CS/JAR 25, 26 EU-OPS, Part-CAT).
- Working experience of other regulatory requirements, in conjunction with understanding of bilateral agreements beneficial.
- Fully conversant with design applications (CATIA, AutoCAD) and certification/compliance processes.
- Exhibits leadership qualities.
- Excellent interpersonal and team management skills.
- Ability to communicate complex technical issues.
- Highly motivated with desires to succeed.
- Confident and competent, with attention to details.
- Ability to adapt and learn effectively and efficiently.
