What You Will Do
As a Document Control Engineer, you’ll be responsible for developing, governing, and administering document control processes across Agratas’ global Integrated Management System (IMS). You will ensure that controlled documentation is accurate, compliant, easily accessible, and consistently managed throughout its lifecycle.
Working at both a strategic and operational level, you’ll partner with global stakeholders to drive standardisation, maintain compliance with ISO and IATF requirements, and support the deployment of robust document management practices across multiple sites.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in building and scaling document control processes within a rapidly growing manufacturing organisation.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Own, develop, and continuously improve the global document control framework, ensuring alignment with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and other IMS requirements.
- Manage the complete document lifecycle, including creation, review, approval, publication, revision, and archiving.
- Administer document change control processes, including version control, impact assessments, and change request tracking.
- Manage document publication workflows, approval routing, and escalation of overdue actions.
- Define and maintain document retention schedules, review cycles, and records management processes.
- Develop, monitor, and report document control KPIs and SLAs.
- Identify process risks, compliance gaps, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Drive standardisation of document control practices while supporting local operational requirements across global sites.
- Own and administer the IMS document management platform (e.g. SharePoint), ensuring system integrity, usability, and audit readiness.
- Lead digitalisation and continuous improvement initiatives related to document management and control.
- Collaborate with Quality, Operations, Engineering, IT, Digital, and Site teams to embed document control requirements into business processes.
- Develop and deliver training material and user guidance to support document control adoption across the organisation.
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for document control and provide support during internal and external audits.
- Support the onboarding of new sites and functions into the global IMS framework.

Agratas is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons. We will design, develop and manufacture high-quality, high-performance, sustainable batteries for the mobility and energy sectors.
We are a scale-up business with a start-up mentality and the backing of a well-established parent company. The UK business headquarters is in the Midlands and we are currently building the UK’s largest battery manufacturing facility in Bridgwater, Somerset.
The team you’ll join…
You’ll join the Integrated Management System (IMS) team, supporting the development and maintenance of processes that underpin quality, compliance, and operational excellence across Agratas globally.
As a growing organisation, we are establishing new systems, standards, and ways of working. This role offers the opportunity to shape how document control is implemented across multiple locations while supporting the growth of a world-class manufacturing business.
What You’ll Bring…
- Experience in Document Control, Quality Management Systems (QMS), Integrated Management Systems (IMS), or a similar governance environment.
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949 document control requirements.
- Knowledge of document lifecycle management, change control, and records management principles.
- Experience administering document management systems such as SharePoint or equivalent platforms.
- Experience working within a regulated manufacturing, engineering, automotive, aerospace, or similar industry.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across multiple functions and locations.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience developing processes, procedures, work instructions, and governance frameworks.
- Ability to balance strategic process development with day-to-day operational administration.
- Experience supporting audits and maintaining audit-ready documentation environments.
- Strong communication and training delivery skills.
