With over 1,000 employees and a £150m turnover, we’re growing—and now looking for an experienced Document Controller to play a key role in our project delivery teams.
The Role
As a Document Controller you'll be responsible for the accurate control, distribution, and storage of project documentation in accordance with company, client, and regulatory requirements. The role supports engineering, construction, and commercial teams by ensuring the correct information is available at the right time to enable safe, efficient, and compliant project delivery across multiple sites.
In addition, the role ensures that technical information such as O&M manuals, work instructions, technical reports, and asset information packs. documentation, and processes are organised, up to date, and compliant, enabling efficient project delivery in a regulated infrastructure environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
Technical Responsibilities - Document Control
- Receive, log, distribute, and archive project documentation in line with document control procedures.
- Maintain document registers, transmittals, and audit trails across multiple projects.
- Ensure correct document naming, numbering, revision control, and approval status.
- Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence in controlled systems.
- Assist engineers and technical leads with the preparation, formatting, and issue of technical documents, reports, and correspondence.
- Produce technical documents including Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals in Client specific formats (electronic, hardcopy, USB), technical reports, procedures, work instructions, and asset information packs.

Systems Management
- Operate internal Document Management systems.
- Apply document workflows, metadata, and permissions as directed.
- Support continuous improvement of document control processes and digital systems.
- Support the use of Clients systems, and their administration if required.
Project & Contract Support
- Work closely with Clients, Subcontractors, engineers, project teams, and site teams to ensure timely access to current documents, attending meetings if required.
- Ensure Subcontractors information is compliant to our Client’s standards, logged and distributed accordingly.
- Support bid, pre-construction, construction, and handover documentation requirements.
- Assist with the compilation of handover documentation, including as-built records and O&M manuals.
- Attend weekly Document Control Team meetings.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure documentation complies with company standards, client requirements, and regulatory obligations.
- Support compliance with ISO standards (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 19650 where applicable).
- Support internal and external audits, inspections, and client reviews.
- Escalate document control issues or non-compliance to senior team members.

What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Experience as a Document Controller in engineering, construction, or infrastructure environments.
- Ability to manage multiple documents, deadlines, and priorities.

Desirable
- Document control or information management certification is advantageous.
- Experience using EDMS platforms and managing digital workflows.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. Good team player, personable character, good communicator.
- Experience working on multi-site projects.
- Experience compiling Site Operational Manuals, Information Packs, Databooks and Health & Safety Files.
