Company Description
Transmission Engineering Services (TES) works across the United Kingdom’s Transmission Network, supporting major power infrastructure projects. The company provides services including project management, protection and control engineering, interface engineering, CAD, and protection settings. TES also delivers factory acceptance testing and undertakes Principal Designer and Principal Contractor duties, ensuring compliance and safety across projects. Team members contribute to technically challenging, high-impact work that supports reliable energy transmission throughout the UK.
Document Controller
As a Document Controller, you will play a critical role in the management, control, and distribution of project documentation, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and effective communication across engineering and project teams. This position supports the successful delivery of engineering projects within a fast-paced environment.
- Location: Hebburn (with occasional site work)

- Produce, format, and maintain high-quality engineering documentation using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)
- Control, distribute, track, and archive project documentation, ensuring accuracy, version control, and timely circulation.
- Coordinate document workflows with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients.
- Ensure all documentation complies with company standards, QA procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain document registers, numbering systems, and labelling conventions for clear identification and traceability.
- Scan, copy, file, and distribute documents to internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of reports, schedules, and project close-out documentation.
- Follow engineers’ instructions to create, update, and revise drawings using AutoCAD and GTX.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Attend site as required for scanning, filing, and document control activities (may include occasional overnight stays).
- Contribute to the organization and distribution of internal workload

Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in a Document Controller or Project Administration role (essential).
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint, with the ability to create, manage, and control complex documentation sets.
- Hands-on experience using AutoCAD and GTX to create and update engineering drawings.
- Experience using document management systems such as Meridian and/or Aconex (highly desirable).
- Previous exposure to the engineering, utilities, or energy sector is advantageous.
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail and a structured approach to document control.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing project requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to liaise across teams.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence required.
