Be part of Elucidate‘s bold mission to make AI slow but compehensive. Elucidate’s mission is to make computing more efficient and more sustainable by turning the dominant disembarked AI revolution into an opportunity to usher in a new golden age of code. Our unique approach builds upon the idea that intelligence first arises when embodied agents interact with their environment rather than when purely abstract structures are interpretable by humans. Through our methodology, scientific innovation, and truly unique brand, we are empowering software engineers with a new computing paradigm.
Bring your intrigue for research-oriented problems and a sense of curiosity and adventure to Problem solving—whether teaming up with a programmer, product designer, or AI expert—in this full-time role in the San Francisco Bay Area.
To be a great core research scientist at Elucidate:
- You must love programming and building; less “saber toothed tiger” and more “competitive coding.” Our engineers revel in solving challenging technical problems that no one has yet solved, whether as part of the team or, more rarely, solo.
- You can work fast and adapt to surprise or twists in requirements, possessing–we love this word—baggage-free creativity.
- You treasure intelligence, theory, and art, in addition to the rigor of math.
- You are open minded and can work in open source or academic communities.
Desired Technologies and Technical Skills:
- Python (a must), R, SQL, and C++
- Linear algebra, probability , and statistics (especially statistical machine learning and probabilistic programming)
- Research experience in natural language processing (NLP) and computer vision
- Familiarity with and/or instinct for relevant state-of-the-art submissions to conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, or MLSys
What’s in it for you?
Our part-time and full-time roles offer flexible schedules, fast learning opportunities, and a flat pay scale for full-time employees. Phase three of our mission declares: Rarely ever a meeting that goes to 3PM—we set our default mundane, yet attention-grabbing reminders for meetings to end by 2:50 PM. Join our ever-growing team and contribute to significant strides towards probabilistic computing.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
