You will ensure that the organisation's technology foundations are secure, scalable, and resilient, aligned to both current priorities and long‑term business strategy.
You will play a key role in guiding the transformation of digital capabilities, ensuring the Information Technology (IT) landscape enables business growth, operational effectiveness, and modern ways of working. Working closely with stakeholders, you will provide strategic direction while maintaining strong architectural governance and standards.
This role combines deep technical expertise with forward‑looking thinking, ensuring that technology resolutions are practical, future‑ready, and commercially aligned as the organisation continues to adopt advanced and emerging technologies.
- Define and own the architecture strategy across Microsoft technologies, cloud, End User Computing, identity and access management (Active Directory and Microsoft Entra), and Windows Server, ensuring alignment to business priorities
- Act as design authority, governing and approving solutions through the Technical Design Authority to ensure consistency with enterprise standards
- Produce high-level designs and assure the quality and approval of low-level designs, ensuring all outputs meet standards and are fully documented
- Provide design assurance throughout delivery, ensuring solutions remain aligned to architecture and transition smoothly into aid with full operational readiness
- Define and embed non-functional requirements, including performance, security, scalability, resilience and operability, ensuring they are measurable and consistently applied
- Identify technical debt, capability gaps and risks, shaping a strategic roadmap that drives resilience, modernisation, security and cost efficiency
- Monitor platform health and prioritise improvement initiatives that strengthen performance and long-term sustainability
- Partner with senior stakeholders to align architecture with business strategy, growth plans and transformation priorities
- Provide oversight during delivery, ensuring adherence to architecture, early risk identification and effective governance of any deviations
- Manage supplier and vendor engagement, assisting selection, evaluation and performance, ensuring solutions align to architectural standards
- Stay current with emerging technologies, trends and regulatory requirements, keeping the architecture modern and adaptable
- Shape a scalable, secure and cost-effective technology landscape, enabling cloud adoption, modern workplace capabilities and future growth
- Help strategic deliberation through clear technical insight, risk assessment and cost-benefit evaluation
- Drive architecture maturity, enabling a more integrated, data-led and cloud-enabled environment that improves teamwork, mobility and productivity

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
