Version 1 – Cloud Infrastructure & Applications Migration Lead

Purpose of Role

Drive AWS infrastructure and application migration waves from initial design through to execution, ensuring aligns with programme objectives. Adaptive discovery is critical—candidates must demonstrate strong practical experience in assessing, architecting, and delivering migrations at scale.


Key Responsibilities

  • ** Lead end-to-end design** of AWS migration solutions, covering both infrastructure and application layers.
  • ** Conduct discovery exercises** using tools like AWS Application Discovery Service or AWS Migration Hub, analysing:
    • Current environment states
    • Dependency mapping
    • Risk identification
  • ** Translate findings into migration strategies**, selecting optimal approaches (rehosting, replatforming, refactoring) based on workload requirements.
  • ** Design target-state architectures** on AWS, covering:
    • Compute, storage, networking, and security
    • Compliance and compliance frameworks
  • ** Collaborate with delivery and project teams** to align technical decisions with programme deadlines.
  • ** Support migration wave execution** using AWS Migration Gateway (MGN), Database Migration Service (DMS), or Application Migration Service.
  • ** Resolve technical obstacles** during migration execution.
  • ** Produce governance-ready documentation** (architecture runbooks, design sign-offs).
  • ** Coordinate with security, change management, and transition teams** to enforce AWS Well-Architected best practices.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Proven track record driving AWS migration waves from discovery to completion.
  • Hands-on expertise with:
    • AWS infrastructure (VPCs, EC2, networking, storage).
    • Application complexity, including dependency-integration analysis in cloud environments.
  • Essential: Practical experience with AWS discovery tools (AWS Migration Hub, Application Discovery Service).
  • Experience supporting multi-wave migrations in regulated environments.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • AWS migration tooling (MGN, DMS, Application Discovery Service, Migration Hub).

Desirable Experience

  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect Associate or Professional preferred).
  • Large-scale transformation programmes (e.g., multi-cloud, infrastructure-as-code transformations).
  • Familiarity with AWS Well Architected Framework.
  • Knowledge of governance frameworks (e.g., RFC workflows, RAID logs).
