Domain Consultant – Pharmaceutical R&D & AI Platforms
Day Rate: £500 (Inside IR35) | Location: Maidenhead, UK (Hybrid)
Contract: 6 Months
Our client, a top global organization, is looking for a Senior Consultant to support the design and evolution of cutting-edge scientific research platforms that accelerate drug discovery and translational science. You'll work alongside architects, scientists, and technology teams to enable data-driven research by integrating complex biological, clinical, and real-world evidence into scalable cloud-based research environments. As a Domain Consultant, you'll bridge scientific research and technology architecture, helping shape modern research platforms that support advanced analytics, AI/ML, knowledge management, and evidence integration across the pharmaceutical R&D lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide subject matter expertise across pharmaceutical R&D, translational science, and computational biology
- Design and advise on research data platforms, cloud analytics environments, and AI/ML architectures
- Support computational biology workflows including genetics, GWAS, bioinformatics pipelines, and multi-omics analytics
- Enable integration of research, clinical, real-world, and external biological datasets
- Advise on AI-powered scientific platforms including knowledge graphs, semantic layers, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
- Support model development, deployment, and research reproducibility best practices
- Ensure research platforms align with FAIR data principles, governance, privacy, and responsible AI requirements
- Collaborate with enterprise architects, scientists, and engineering teams to enable seamless evidence sharing across research environments
- Contribute to strategic architecture decisions supporting scientific innovation and future platform capabilities

- 10+ years' experience within Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences
