About Southern Water

Southern Water is leading a major data transformation to establish a modern, trusted data platform that supports:

  • Operational performance
  • Regulatory outcomes
  • Better decision-making

Data modelling is a core capability in this journey, underpinning analytics, reporting, and data products across the organisation. As part of this effort, Southern Water is seeking a Domain Data Modeller to shape the company’s data architecture and governance frameworks.

The Role

As a Domain Data Modeller, you will be a key member of a domain-aligned agile squad, responsible for:

  • Designing and maintaining scalable, business-aligned data models supporting analytics, reporting, and data products.
  • Working closely with Product Owners, Data Engineers, BI Engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to ensure models accurately reflect business domains and align with enterprise architecture and governance.
  • Playing a critical role in ensuring metadata, lineage, and catalogue information is accurate and trusted across the platform.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of business and technology, shaping how data is structured, governed, and consumed.

Responsibilities

Core Work

  • Design, implement, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned with business domains.
  • Ensure metadata and lineage is accurately captured and maintained within the enterprise data catalogue.
  • Translate business requirements into clear, well-structured data models in collaboration with Product Owners and delivery teams.
  • Contribute to solution architecture discussions, ensuring models support scalability and long-term strategy.
  • Validate models with Data Engineers against ingestion pipelines and sample data.
  • Provide high-quality model documentation to support downstream development and analytics.
  • Maintain data modelling standards and best practices across squads.
  • Apply change management principles to ensure consistency and traceability of model changes.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
