# Domestic Abuse Advocate (Ask MARC Service) – Male Victims Specialist Position type: 1 full-time role (37.5 hours per week) Salary: £24,784.50 – £26,872.22 (pro-rata depending on qualifications/experience) Location: Sandwell/Wolverhampton (community & accommodation-based support) Closing date: 29 July 2026 Interviews: Via Microsoft Teams
About This Role
Are you a compassionate, motivated professional with experience supporting vulnerable individuals? Can you drive high-quality, person-centred support?
We are seeking a domestic abuse advocate specialising in supporting male victims to deliver specialist, trauma-informed interventions across low-to-medium risk cases. Your work will empower individuals to access safety, health, and recovery from abuse – addressing unique male-based barriers in services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist frontline support to male victims of domestic abuse and interpersonal violence, including practical help, emotional advocacy, and safety planning.
- Deliver responsive interventions (both 1:1 and groupwork) in community settings, including accommodation support, to reinforce autonomy and safety.
- Conduct assessments in line with risk thresholds, documenting progress while maintaining confidentiality & safeguarding integrity.
- Collaborate with multi-agency professionals (CPS, healthcare, police, housing teams) to coordinate holistic advocacy, referrals, and escalation plans.
- Raise awareness of abuse, stigma, and male-specific harm – challenging systemic barriers in support services and campaigning where relevant.
- Research & evaluate emerging trends in male victimisation, feeding insights back to the team.
- Adapt approach to culturally-sensitive, inclusive best practices – working respectfully with D different diverse genders and needs.
- Maintain accurate records (digital risk assessments, care plans) while adhering to data protection and system protocols.

What You’ll Bring to the Role
Essential Requirements
- Qualification or experience in:
- Social work
- Counselling/psychology (minimum RQC accredited)
- Community advocacy work (with vulnerable adults)
- Criminal justice support roles
- Deep understanding of domestic abuse dynamics, safeguarding, and risk reduction techniques.
- Person-centred advocacy skills, including gender-informed practice (with ability to explain male-victim specificologies).
- Professional multifaceted cept in DBS-checked work environments and collaborative agencies.
- Strong skills communication, including-session management with distressed individuals.
- Resilience & empathy: Comfortable working with heavily screened trauma histories in low budget settings.
- You are IT literate with MS Teams, preparation tools, report writing.
Desirable Features
- Experience in male-focused services or LGBTQ+ advocacy.
- Language fluency beyond the English first woman.
- Involvement in workforce development, training sessions (either as presenter or attendee).
- Knowledge of eligibility pathways for housing, benefits, or asylum claims.
