Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an experienced finance professional to join the Board of Women’s Aid Luton as Treasurer—someone who wants to use their expertise to make a tangible difference to the lives of women and children affected by domestic abuse.

This is a pivotal governance role, combining strategic influence with meaningful purpose.

You will bring senior-level financial experience, strong analytical skills, and the confidence to guide and challenge at Board level—helping to ensure the organisation remains financially resilient and able to meet growing demand.

You will be comfortable interpreting financial information and translating it into clear, accessible insights that support confident decision-making. Experience of working within a Board or committee setting is important, along with an understanding of the distinction between oversight and day-to-day operations.

Just as importantly, you will bring sound judgement, integrity, and the ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with fellow trustees and the senior leadership team. You will act as both a trusted advisor and a constructive challenger, helping to strengthen governance and financial confidence across the organisation.

We are seeking someone who shares our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, and who is motivated by the opportunity to contribute to a cause that delivers real, lasting impact. You should also be able to commit the necessary time to prepare for and attend Board and Finance Committee meetings, with occasional additional support where needed.

Desirable

A recognised financial qualification (such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA), experience of charity finance and familiarity with the Charities SORP would be valuable. Previous Treasurer experience, or involvement in financial planning, growth, or income diversification, would be an advantage.

This is an opportunity to apply your professional skills in a way that truly matters—helping to ensure Women’s Aid Luton remains strong, sustainable, and able to support those who need us most.

What will you be doing?

As a Trustee and Treasurer, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of Women’s Aid Luton—bringing your financial expertise to strengthen decision-making, sustainability, and ultimately the support we provide to women and children affected by domestic abuse.

Our Board is made up of passionate, committed trustees who bring a range of professional perspectives and a shared drive to make a difference. As we enter our next phase of development, we are focused on growing and evolving our services while ensuring we remain financially resilient in an increasingly challenging funding environment.

This is a pivotal moment for the charity. Demand for our services continues to rise, while financial pressures across the sector are intensifying. At the same time, we have clear ambitions to expand our reach, invest in our infrastructure, and build long-term sustainability. Strong financial insight and leadership at Board level has never been more important.

As Treasurer, you will lead the Board’s financial oversight, playing a central role in guiding how we use our resources to achieve the greatest possible impact. You will help ensure the Board has clear, accessible financial information to support confident, informed decisions, and that financial considerations are fully embedded in our strategic thinking.

You will contribute to key discussions on growth, funding strategy, and risk, offering both support and constructive challenge.
