Domestic Abuse Support Worker

Domestic Abuse Intervention Support Worker

A well-established and highly respected charity is seeking a passionate Domestic Abuse Intervention Support Worker to join its supported accommodation service in Sandwell. The organisation delivers specialist, trauma-informed support to survivors of domestic abuse, helping individuals and families rebuild their lives, improve their wellbeing, and move towards long-term independence.

Your New Role

As a Domestic Abuse Intervention Support Worker, you will:

  • Provide high-quality, person-centred support to survivors of domestic abuse and their children living within safe accommodation.
  • Manage a caseload of residents, including:
    • Carrying out risk and needs assessments.
    • Developing tailored support plans.
    • Delivering both one-to-one and group-based interventions.
  • Offer practical and emotional support around:
    • Housing.
    • Welfare benefits.
    • Safety planning.
    • Safeguarding.
    • Financial wellbeing.
    • Access to specialist services.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external agencies to:
    • Advocate on behalf of service users.
    • Promote recovery and resilience.
    • Support individuals to achieve positive outcomes and greater independence.

This is a rewarding frontline role based in Sandwell, with travel required across accommodation sites.

Essential Requirements

A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Experience working with vulnerable adults within domestic abuse, homelessness, supported housing, care, or related support services.
  • Knowledge and understanding of:
    • Domestic abuse.
    • Safeguarding.
    • Trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience in managing caseloads and developing person-centred support plans.
  • Excellent:
    • Communication skills.
    • Advocacy skills.
    • Partnership-working skills.
  • Ability to:
    • Engage and support clients with complex needs in both one-to-one and group settings.
  • Good IT skills, including:
    • Microsoft Office applications.
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • A full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
