Domestic Assistant (Contracted Hours) – Medirest
Hourly Rate: £12.92 per hour Contract: 15 hours per week (contracted across weeks per year)

We are seeking dedicated individuals to embed in our high-performing team, delivering outstanding cleaning services for patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
As a Domestic Assistant, you’ll play a critical role in infection control, essential for keeping the hospital operational and ensuring its life-changing medical services remain intact. This isn’t just any cleaning job—it makes a meaningful impact on patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily high-standard cleaning tasks:
- High and low dusting, mopping, wiping, and scrubbing surfaces.
- Deep-cleaning hospital wards, side rooms, toilets, showers, and both infected and public areas.
- Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety guidelines when using cleaning equipment.
- Waste management – maintaining and emptying rubbish bins promptly.
- Maintaining high hospital hygiene standards—upholding cleanliness, presentation, and safety protocols for staff and visitors.
- Demonstrating empathy and professionalism when dealing with:
- Patients (including those who are particularly unwell or distressed).
- Visitors and hospital staff.
- Flexible, problem-solving work ethic, including:
- Operating independently or as part of a team under pressure.
- Meeting operational requirements with a proactive approach.

Requirements & Qualities
Experience Not Required
- A passion for patient-centred care is essential—experience in domestic roles isn’t necessary.
- A strong willingness to take pride in your work and go the extra mile.
Competences We Value
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, visitors, and medical teams.
- Confidence working in a fast-paced hospital environment.
- Adaptability—comfort in shift-based or high-demand situations.
- Ability to follow policies and procedures rigorously.
