Domestic Assistant
Domestic Assistant (32 hours per week, Including Some Weekends)
Salary & Contract
- £24,796 per annum (pro-rata for part-time role)
- Type: Permanent
- Hours: 32 per week (part-time)
- Working Pattern: Every other weekend + weekdays
- Base: The Big House, Edwinstowe, Mansfield, NG21 9QA
- Working Arrangements: Site-based
About Our Organisation
The Children and Families Department adopts a strengths-based approach (Our Nottinghamshire Approach), fostering collaboration across agencies and families to support children and young people effectively. The Big House specialises in providing high-quality, compassionate care for children with significant intellectual disabilities, complex medical/sensory needs, and occasional risk behaviours.
We are seeking a Domestic Assistant to join our domestic team, ensuring our home operates at the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and hygiene.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain high standards of cleaning and general tidiness across residential areas and public spaces.
- Carry out deep cleaning and respond to emergency spillage/cleaning requirements.
- Stock and replenish cleaning supplies, report defects to equipment, and maintain inventory control.
- Operate industrial cleaning equipment (vacuum cleaners, floor machines).
- Liaise with colleagues to ensure ROTA coverage on weekends.
- Health & Safety compliant: Follow COSHH, risk assessments, and hygiene protocols.
- Assist with facilities team flexibility as needed.

Requirements & Preferences
Experience or training in cleaning/domestic services is desirable, but passion for hygiene and customer service is prioritised. You should:
- Be able to work independently while also collaborating within a team.
- Hold strong communication skills with a positive, proactive attitude.
- Uphold high standards of cleanliness and safety.
- Be happy to undertake relevant training.
Working Hours & Compensation
- 32 flexible hours per week (split between weekdays + weekends).
- Weekday shifts: Mostly morning.
- Weekend working: Every 2nd weekend on 2-week rota.
- Premium pay:
- Time and a half for Saturdays.
- Double time for Sundays.
