The Domestic Assistant role at Clayfield House, part of Nottinghamshire Children and Families Department, focuses on maintaining high hygiene and cleanliness standards within a secure residential unit for young people aged 10–18 requiring specialised care and support.

- Salary: £24,796 per annum (pro-rated)

The Core Purpose
Ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for children, staff, and visiting professionals. The Domestic Assistant plays a critical role in upholding health, safety, and operational efficiency of a secure care facility.
Key Responsibilities
As a Domestic Assistant, your work will include:

Cleaning & Maintenance:
- Daily superficial and deep cleaning (horns, kitchens, communal spaces, etc.).
- Responding to spillages and emergency cleaning (e.g., bio-hazard incidents).
- Preventative cleaning – e.g., fogging for pest extermination.

Equipment & Supplies:
- Operating specialist equipment: industrial vacuum cleaners, floor polisher/fitters.
- Maintaining and ordering cleaning stocks (res replacing consumables).
- Recording stock inventory and logging equipment defects for repairs.

Safety & Compliance:
- Strict adherence to Health and Safety (COSHH, RIsK assessments).
- Providing critical reportiing (e.g., defects, issues with maintenance of surfaces).

Person Specification: What We’re Looking For
Success in this role requires:
- A passion for maintaining pristine sanitary standards in a challenging environment.
- Experience in hospitality, domestic care, or facility support (desirable but not mandatory).
- Knowledge of chemical safety (COSHH) and hygiene protocols.
- Ability to:
- Work independently (minimal supervision needed).
- Communicate effectively (staff, young people, and external teams).
- Act proactively to contribute to a positive, structured working environment.
- Willingness to undertake induction/training as required.
