Domestic Assistant – Facilities Department (Worthing Hospital)
About the Role
The Domestics Department at Worthing Hospital is seeking Domestic Assistants to join their team. This role will involve maintaining high standards of cleanliness across clinical wards and departments in line with national guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain clinical wards/departments to stringent cleaning standards, including National Cleaning Standards 2021 (training provided).
- Ensure strict adherence to Health and Safety policies while performing duties.
- Provide a comprehensive cleaning service across designated hospital areas.
- Carry out additional duties as required within the role’s grade.
- Support Hospital staff, patients, and visitors with courtesy and professionalism.
- Guide and assist visitors in a friendly and helpful manner.
- Handle sensitive communications, including dealing tactfully with relatives of deceased patients.
- Participate in departmental IT initiatives where applicable.

Requirements
- No prior experience required (training provided for cleaning to National Cleaning Standards).
- Ability to work flexibly as part of a team within the Facilities Department.
- Must maintain confidentiality regarding patient, staff, and health service information.
- Confidence in communicating professionally while adhering to Trust policies and procedures.
Availability
- Shifts available: 07:30–16:00 or 17:00–21:00
- Working days: Monday to Sunday (both full-time and part-time roles will be discussed during the interview).
