Domestic Assistant – Relief Shift
About the Role
Working Hours: Monday to Friday – relief shifts 16:00 to 19:00 at Castle Hill Hospital, Cottingham.

Key Responsibilities
The Domestic Assistant will contribute to maintaining an excellent standard of cleanliness and safety across the hospital. Core responsibilities include:
- Ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for patients, staff, and visitors through collaboration with the team.
- Waste management: Regular removal of waste using correct bagging and labelling procedures.
- Safe disposal of clinical waste, including correct taping and colour-coding as per hospital guidelines.
- Using cleaning chemicals safely and efficiently in line with manufacturer instructions, only using commercially supplied products.
- Performing deep cleans, clinical cleans, admission cleans, and infection control procedures, including removal, laundering, and hanging of curtains.
- Reporting defective machinery to the Hotel Services Team Leader for further referral to Estates for repair.

Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Must have the right to work in the UK.
- Submission of an enhanced DBS check as part of the hiring process.
- GCSE standard education, including Maths and English.
- Experience and knowledge of computer technologies.
- Familiarity with National Cleanliness Standards and compliance with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and Health and Safety procedures.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, staff, and visitors.
