Domestic Couple
Live-in | Kings Langley, Hertfordshire
Salary: £80,000 gross per annum (joint salary)
Start: early Sept
Accommodation: Separate furnished accommodation (all bills included)
A lovely semi-retired professional couple are seeking an experienced, practical and proactive live-in Domestic Couple to take full responsibility for the day-to-day running and upkeep of their contemporary family home and surrounding grounds in Kings Langley, Hertfordshire.
This is a long-term role suited to a couple who genuinely enjoy country living, have excellent communication skills, work well together and are happy to be flexible when required. The household is relaxed and informal, with occasional visits from the principals' adult children.
The property comprises a modern five-bedroom, five-bathroom home set within approximately five acres of land. There is also an indoor swimming pool complex, which is professionally maintained.
The principals are looking for a couple who are particularly comfortable around animals, as they have several large dogs and small ponies. No previous equine experience is required, however both candidates should be happy to learn and assist with their care.

Duties and Responsibilities
Housekeeping
- Full housekeeping to an exceptional standard
- Daily cleaning and presentation of the home
- Laundry, ironing and wardrobe care
- Bed changing and linen management
- Household organisation and maintaining a tidy environment
- Monitoring household supplies and notifying the principals when replenishment is required
Property Maintenance & Grounds
- General handyman and maintenance duties
- Basic DIY and routine household repairs
- Monitoring the overall condition of the property and reporting any maintenance issues
- Liaising with external contractors where required
- Assisting the gardener with seasonal and general outdoor tasks as needed
- Supporting the upkeep of the grounds and outdoor areas
Animal Care
- Assisting with the daily care of several large dogs
- Helping with the care of the family's small ponies
- Ensuring the animals are comfortable and well looked after
- Working alongside the existing morning groom
- No dog walking or riding is required

Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- Typically 8:30am – 5:30pm
- Flexibility is appreciated when the principals are away or require occasional weekend support, with time off given in lieu where appropriate.
Accommodation
The successful couple will be provided with their own separate, fully furnished accommodation with all utility bills included. Please note that the accommodation is suitable for the couple only and is not suitable for dependants or pets.
Requirements
The Ideal Couple
- Previous experience working within a private household
- Excellent housekeeping standards
- Practical handyman with strong basic DIY skills
- Warm, trustworthy and proactive
- Excellent communication skills
- Comfortable working independently and using initiative
- Flexible when the principals are travelling or require occasional weekend assistance
- Genuine animal lovers who are confident around large dogs and willing to learn about pony care
- One candidate must hold a full UK driving licence and be confident driving a manual vehicle
- Non-smokers and non-vapers
